Part 6: Drafting
Using your outline, start drafting your humor argument essay. Your argument essay should include an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Write at least three well-developed paragraphs. Look at the ideas you listed in your outline, and begin to develop sentences and paragraphs to expand upon your ideas. Be sure to create focused paragraphs with specific details and examples.
Introduction
Your first paragraph should introduce the topic you have selected by grabbing your audience’s attention.
- You might begin with a question or an interesting fact.
- Add a least one sentence that transitions to your thesis statement. Include any background information that readers may need to know to understand the topic.
- Include your thesis statement (main idea).

Body Paragraphs
Your humor argument assignment should include at least two body paragraphs.
- Each paragraph should begin with a topic sentence that makes a point.
- Body paragraphs should include examples, details, and evidence that supports the point.

Conclusion
Your humor assignment should include a conclusion paragraph that ties it all together.
- The concluding paragraph should emphasize the importance of the information you have presented in the other paragraphs.
- Restate your thesis and summarize the points you made.
- You could answer a question.
- You could speculate on the future.
- You could end with a thoughtful, related quotation.
- Make sure your conclusion gives the reader a sense of closure.
