Book Description
Latine Students in US Schools: An Interactive Resource Book for Educators
This interactive resource book provides educators with highly curated research, academic scholarship, and community-based materials to better inform and support their work with Latine students, families, and communities. Grounded in critical and culturally sustaining pedagogies (Rendón et al., 2014; Alim & Paris, 2017) and shaped by an intersectional lens (Crenshaw, 1991), the book invites readers to engage in guided learning experiences that explore the rich sociopolitical, historical, and cultural contexts shaping Latine students’ lives and schooling experiences in the US. Chapters focus on the diverse lived experiences of Latine student groups and are anchored in cultural wealth models (Yosso, 2005), emphasizing the assets that students, families, and communities bring to schools. Each chapter, authored by educators, includes high-quality, interactive materials designed to deepen understanding and encourage reflective practice. This book encourages educators to cultivate a spirit of curiosity, collaboration, and continuous learning, recognizing that serving Latine students well requires both commitment and ongoing inquiry.
