Part 1: SMART Goals

You will be introduced to goal setting strategies, particularly SMART goals.

Discuss the following questions:

  1. Why is it important to have goals?
  2. What gets in the way of achieving goals?
  3. If one does not achieve a goal, what should they do?
  4. Is there a smarter way of making goals?

Part 2: Online Resources

It is easy to find information on the internet these days, but how do you know if the information is reliable? In this lesson, you will evaluate online resources.

Part 3: Other Online Resources

You will discuss other places to find information such as SIIT databases and the local library.

Access databases available to SIIT students: Emerald, Proquest, National Film Board.

Part 4: SMART Goals Revisited

You will discuss how you may get in the way of your own success through self-sabotaging behaviours. If you think about self-sabotaging behaviours before you write your SMART goals, you might identify ways to avoid them.
