Acknowledgements
The editors of this collection would like to thank, first and foremost, the authors who so graciously shared their work with us for this collection. Thank you for staying with us through the call for chapters, months of editing and revisions, a change in editorial lineup, and the long and drawn out process that is book creation. We are deeply proud of this collection, and we hope you are too.
We would also like to specifically thank Sean Michael Morris for igniting the community around critical instructional design, and for seeing a space for this conversation in putting out the call for chapters through Hybrid Pedagogy. Thank you also for your help selecting chapters, for those first rounds of edits, and for handing over this project to us and trusting us to see it through to the end.
Thank you to Jesse Stommel as well, for your production guidance and all the wrangling of Pressbooks and the publication process. We appreciate the help and editing advice you have offered, along with your time and energy on this project. Also, the Zoom cameos from Hazel are always a welcome addition to any meeting.
Thank you, Sukaina Walji, for your help in selecting the chapters for this collection along with the early rounds of edits and revisions. Your assistance and expertise were greatly appreciated.
Jerod would like to also thank the following amazing people for their help, willingness to listen, high-fives, and general encouragement: Amy Archambault, Amanda Stafford, Fatemeh Mardi, Tammy M. McCoy, Chris Grabau, Allen Brown, Donohon Abdugafurova, Norah Elmagraby, and Matt Easter. Thank you to my family as well, especially Charity, who spent many nights helping me think through the dynamics and details of book editing along with helping me to find constructive yet kind ways to say, “I need you to cut 1000 words from this chapter because it’s too freakin’ long.” And while my kids didn’t have much to do with this collection, they like seeing their names in books so here you go Grace and Ash.
Surita would like to thank Jerod and Martha for being such amazing editors to work alongside with. I am grateful for the opportunity to have been a part of this project. I learned so much along the way about unique approaches and issues related to critical design and care.
Martha would like to thank Robin, Hannah, and Matt for helping her survive the last three years; Susan and John Fay for being the first people to teach her why writing (and editing!) matters; and Erik, Madigan, and Graeme for being the reasons everything else matters.
