The major categories for AR/VR hardware are further delineated in the proposed taxonomy into six sub-categories under the two main branches. While this taxonomy adequately encompasses the present technology offerings it is likely that advances will render some categories obsolete at some time in the future. This is likely to occur when the AR headsets approach the graphical capabilities of fully immersive or when fully immersive sets are able to adopt Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) into their sensing capacities.
