Please identify an ideal job for yourself and be ambitious but not ridiculous. Rather than ‘Warren Buffet’ go for ‘financial advisor to small investors.’ This job title need not sound succinct, but it must be specific. By which I mean a vague idea like ‘ something with children’ or ‘helping people organize their money’ needs to focussed into what you will do to whom. So for example: ‘looking after under 5s in a local kindergarten’ or ‘financial advice for the over-55s’.

Don’t proceed unless you’ve done this – and if you redefine your job search you may want to return here and go through the exercises again with your new job title.
