When the river goes by, all will be well.
The Eumenides in the trees will tell
of home-spun Orestes a rondel,
when the river goes by.

When the river goes by, he’ll be at ease
from matricides and other duties,
and the song of the sweet Eumenides.
When the river goes by,

all will be well. He will sit and see,
from the dry river’s bank, all history
emptied into the senseless sea
and the river gone by.
