We created this guide with academic library student supervisors (like us!) in mind. If you work at a college or university library and supervise students: this book is for you!

We’ve tried to limit jargon and define terms in hopes of making this an easy, accessible read. This is not a traditional academic text by design.

The first few chapters are focused on content knowledge. If you already have a good grasp on high-impact learning practices, metacognition and transparent design, you can feel free to skip forward to the High-Impact Transparency chapter or refer back to any part of this book as needed.

After we cover the content knowledge, we will break down how these frameworks can be applied to your training and conversations with students.

Are you ready for your metacognitive journey toward improving your work with students? Let’s dive in!
