A Note from Mohamed Ally, IAmLearn Director

As countries around the world aim to provide “Education for All” and the United Nations tries to achieve Goal 4 (inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all) of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the use of mobile learning will be important for the achievement of these goals. At the same time, we are aware that many citizens in developing countries are by-passing the large computer age and moving directly mobile devices. The challenge for educators is how to design learning materials that will motivate learners from different cultures and different age groups to learn effectively with mobile devices. When developing learning materials for mobile learning educators must take advantage of the capabilities of the devices to prepare interactive and virtual experiences to develop high level knowledge and skills of learners. Learning strategies such as games, augmented reality, virtual reality, and mixed reality should be used in mobile learning. This requires that teachers be trained on how to develop quality mobile learning materials and how to successfully implement mobile learning. The chapters in this book are contributing to developing quality mobile learning materials and providing best practices for successful implementation of mobile learning. Thanks to the chapter authors for publishing their chapters in an open access format which will allow anyone to benefit from the book. This book will make a significant contribution to provide “Education for All” and to achieve the sustainable development goals.
