- As a child, it was my understanding that when Edna died she was buried near Goodwin, Oklahoma. When the William Kirmse family moved to Alva, she was reburied in Zion Cemetery near Alva, Oklahoma. However, when I read Edna’s Death Certificate, I noticed that Edna’s burial location was Alva, Oklahoma. And, the Alva Zion Lutheran Church Death records confirm that Edna died near Goodwin on July 10, 1909 and was buried near Alva on July 12, 1909.
- Edna’s Alva, Oklahoma burial was a 1 1/2 years before the William Kirmse family moved to Alva. Apparently, they already were planning to move at the time Edna died. I remember my father, Julius Kirmse, saying that Edna was his first playmate. And, when Edna died (when he was about 4 1/2 years old and Edna was 1 1/2 years old) he was so lonely because there were no other children to play with.
