In Memory of Gilbert H. Krueger

Gilbert Herbert, son of Martha (Fritsche) and John Krueger was born on October 8, 1918 in Farrar, Missouri. He passed to eternal rest at his home on February 8, 1997 at the age of 78 years and 4 months.
He attended the Lutheran School at Farrar, Missouri. After his father’s death he did farm work to support the family. In 1938, Gilbert came to the Alva area to help with the wheat harvest.
He was married to Ella Kirmse on March 2, 1941 at the Alva Zion Lutheran Church. To this union three children, Betty, John and Martha, were born. Following their marriage, they lived on the Kirmse farm southeast of Alva where they actively engaged in farming for nearly 56 years.
Mr. Krueger was baptized by his grandfather, Reverend John Krueger in his parent’s home. In 1932, he was confirmed at the Lutheran Church in Farrar, Missouri. He was a member of the Alva Zion Lutheran Church serving on the Church Council for many years as Chairman, Vice Chairman and Elder. He also participated in other church committees, organizations and activities. For 15 years he served on the Farmers Co-op Board of Directors and supported community groups such as 4-H and FFA.
Mr. Krueger was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Alma Hoehn and Lucy Krueger and his brother, Walter.
Gilbert is survived by his wife Ella of the home; two daughters, Betty Deinlein of Austin, Texas and Martha and her husband, Tom Mueller of Fort Worth, Texas; a son and his wife, John and Ruth of Hutchinson, Kansas; six grandchildren, Debby and her husband, Mike Joyce, Jeff Deinlein, David and Linda Krueger, and Stephen and Jonathan Mueller; a sister, Verna Schoen of St. Louis Missouri; a brother, Reverend Raymond Krueger and his wife Hilda of Rochester, Minnesota and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
