AntConc (Senior Secondary level)

ㅤㅤLesson Plan

This lesson focusing on writing was created by Huang Chuhua, aiming at improving students’ abilities to write dialogues to make their stories more vivid and well-structured. Ms. Huang has won the Championship in the Corpus-Based ELT Lesson Design Competition in 2021.

In the showcase here, however, the teaching video is not provided. But Ms. Huang shared with us her reflection about the lesson design and her teaching experience with her creation.

The lesson follows the Corpus-based Language Pedagogy (CBLP) framework (Ma et al., 2021) with the four basic lesson design principles we introduced previously.

AntConc (Tertiary level)

ㅤㅤLesson Plan

This lesson focusing on reading was created by Ms. Yang Jing, who won the Corpus-based ELT Lesson Design Competition in 2020. In this lesson, Ms. Yang taught some Undergraduates in English Major how to use AntConc to learn the stylistics of political speeches. They also learn how to analyse the features of political speech and how they should be formulated.

The lesson basically follows the Corpus-based Language Pedagogy (CBLP) framework with the four basic lesson design principles, with slight adaptation to the teaching sequence. It is noticeable that the version of AntConc used was older. However, the search functions introduced in her lesson are still available in later versions of AntConc.
