Instructional designers are always actively engaged in researching in order to make informed, sound recommendations for adopting instructional media and technologies for a course. This means that you must continually seek out information on what the latest trends that are available. Staying current and growing your knowledge base of instructional media (whether it is computer-based resources, the newest in gaming for learning or tools that improve learner engagement) is essential to the instructional designer.  Researching how to incorporate new, appropriate technologies is critical to designing the highest quality learning experience.  The following sections in Chapter 6 will look at each of these (computer-based resources, games for learning, and tools of engagement) and provide valuable tips of the trade on selecting instructional media and technologies into the curriculum.
