3.8 Orthognathic Surgery
Orthognathic surgery corrects conditions of the jaw related to structure, growth, malocclusion or trauma.
Categories:
- BSSO – Bilateral Sagital Split Osteotomy (Mandible)
- Genioplasty – Chin augmentation (Mandible)
- Le Fort 1 – Osteotomy (Maxilla)
- SARPE – Surgically Assisted Rapid Palatal Expansion (Maxilla)
These procedures require the Sterile Technique. They are typically performed under General Anesthesia in a hospital setting. The patients are often admitted for a night or two.
