This textbook is the result of years of collaboration between LCCC faculty, librarians, eLearning specialists, administrators, and administrative staff. While a committee of full-time and adjunct faculty drafted, reviewed, and revised the material in this textbook, our efforts were supported by those who taught us how to create OER and provided the resources to do so.

In addition to the authors listed on this textbook, several other LCCC English instructors contributed valuable material. Thank you to Michael Bohnert, Johnny Caputo, Jon Conley, Natalie Daniels, Mary Donaldson, Jessica Isaac, Patricia Mack, Melissa Motsch, Priyanthan Pillainayagam, and John Skarl. We are also indebted to many other faculty colleagues, both at LCCC and in the area high schools, for the thoughtful conversations about teaching writing that inspired the chapters that follow.

The librarians in LCCC’s Bass Library provided important information about Creative Commons licensing and the creation of OER. They helped us create the reading anthologies included at the end of the textbook, and they work each semester to ensure that all students have access to that material through the library’s databases. Thank you to Kathy Hodkey, Bethany Miller, Christine Sheetz, Melody Steiner, and Ellen Weppelman.

The specialists in LCCC’s offices of eLearning and Accessibility Services helped us make this textbook accessible for all of our students. Thank you to Jacob Bowman, Jody Haserodt, Felisha Jones, Tammy Macek, and Mary Murphy.

This initiative was supported from the beginning by our administrators. Thank you to Dr. Brenda Pongracz, Dean of Arts and Humanities, and Dr. Jonathan Dryden, Provost.

Finally, we owe a debt of gratitude to the wider OER community, especially to our fellow English faculty at Columbus State Community College and Cleveland State University. Through their mentorship in the early stages of this process, they showed us what could be done with OER and how to do it. Thank you to Rachel Brooks-Pannell, Rebecca Fleming, and Nicholas Lakostik of Columbus State. Thank you to Melanie Gagich, Amanda Goodsett, and Emilie Zickel of Cleveland State.
