Learning Objectives

After reading this chapter, students will:

Understand the difference between synthesis and other types of writing
Identify different types of synthesis and how they are used in different writing situations
Know how to organize an essay that synthesizes multiple sources
Use appropriate signal phrases, sentence structures, and citation practices to draw connections between two or more sources
