118 College Writing: Annotation

Annotation, or close reading, of a text provides a means for understanding as well as questioning a text. This strategy often comes at the beginning of the writing process as it helps the writer establish what is known and what has yet to be determined.

Annotation also helps with the retention of information. Visit LibreTexts’ at “Annotation Is a System for Remembering What You Read.”
