66 Grammar

Grammar is the proper use of words in forming sentences that assist with effective communication. Each word communicates more than just the meaning of the word, but how each word works in conjunction with another word or phrase. The words must form structured sentences to communicate the meaning of a message. The basic skills needed to form clear, concise sentences are capitalization, punctuation, and spelling.  It is necessary for students to be taught the proper grammar skills so they can communicate with their instructors in various disciplines and in the real world with their colleagues. Having good basic grammar skills establishes ethos with your readers. No one wants to convey a thoughtless tone or accidentally say something that is not intended. For more specifics on grammar, see the Handbook section.
