Diatonic Two-Part Examples

A. Rigadoon

Learn the melody and bass line. Play one part at the keyboard and sing the other, then reverse. Provide full analysis.

 


 

These next two pieces are excellent examples of the benefits of la-minor. The B sections involve a modulation to the relative major. For sight singing purposes, no syllable change is necessary.

 

B. Minuet

Play one part at the keyboard and sing the other, then reverse. Complete the analysis by adding commercial chord symbols.

 

C. Festival Rondo

Practice in several ways: (1) sing the soprano and bass, (2) sing the soprano and play the chords on the lowest staff, (3) sing the soprano and chords in four voices.  Provide full analysis.
