Partial Removal of Ingrown Toenail

  • Absorbent pad
  • Chlorhexidine (or other approved skin cleanser)
  • Local anesthetic (see chapter titled “Local Anesthesia” for full procedure)
  • 3-10mL syringe, blunt fill and 27g needles
  • Sterile gloves
  • Sterile drape
  • Tissue nipper
  • English nail anvil or nail splitter
  • Straight forceps or hemostat
  • Iris scissors
  • Sterile gauze
  • Silver nitrate sticks
  • Tourniquet
  • Cotton-tipped applicator
  • Non-adherent gauze dressing
  • Roll gauze
