I recently purchased a domain via GoDaddy.com. I was curious to see how a WordPress.org site could be hosted on GoDaddy, so I hit the WWW bricks to see how.

Stephani Worts, of GoDaddy.com, provides some insight into starting from the ground up in her article on “How to build a WordPress website for the first time.” Stephani is a Senior Web Developer, by trade, for a company called Digital Research, and she touts herself as a “WordPress Wizard.” She has also posted an article about designing a blog that helps to convert readers into customers, titled “How to Design a Blog that Converts.” Check it out!

“How to Build a WordPress Website…” seems easy enough to follow and even includes a video titled, WordPress Design Tips for Beginners, with tips for beginners. WordPress is defined as a content manager and is just one of many different ones out there. The content manager manages how content is displayed to viewers of the website. After going through the process of building the website and aquiring a domain name, which is the name you’ll use for people to be able to get to your site, you then want to look at hosting. A web host (hosting service) is the place where the files for your website reside. This may include a theme, images, and videos.

A typical GoDaddy WordPress hosted account is automatically configured and managed for you, but a WordPress.org site is unmanaged, requiring you to download the software. There is no third-party software needed on GoDaddy, since eveything is created and edited from your web browser, however you will need to create a database yo house the files for your website.

The article covers a lot of ground, going over items such as uploading files to the database, selecting your theme, and adding content. This chapter provides an overview of how to get started with the Worpress site hosted on GoDaddy.com. You are welcome to visit the site to get more detailed information for the web building process.
