1. In the Beginning there was a Petition: to Abolish Forced Adoptions in the UK
The online petition to Abolish Adoptions without Parental Consent came about thanks to Florence Bellone, a Belgian journalist who had received a radio prize for her radio program on the children snatched and forcibly adopted in the UK. She has helped some 150 parents, and it took about 100 before they even began to talk. For ‘gagging’ is part of the State system that steals children from their parents and covers it up with ‘institutionalised hypocrisy’.
‘Gagging’ means being forbidden to speak out under the threat of imprisonment. It’s called ‘contempt of court’ when you do and can be punished with up to seven years imprisonment.
John Hemming MP was the first to use ‘Parliamentary privilege’ to name a mother victim and her local Council in Parliament: Vicky Haigh and Doncaster. The Independent published The Untold Story of Gagging Orders.
Florence had spoken with two members of the European Parliament (MEPs) who had suggested that we need a petition with 2,000 signatures. So I tried different platforms with slightly different titles:
- The Secrecy of the Family Courts should be lifted Now! was the oldest one – but GoPetition was too techie, too tedious, not sufficiently user friendly and charges for downloading addresses to inform signers;
- Stop Forced Adoptions in the UK! on Avaaz – the popular platform that provides no way of updating signers – despite my talking to one of their developers directly;
- Stop Secret Family Courts encouraging Forced Adoptions in the UK! – the PetitionSite turned out to be the one least promoted and found for signing;
- Abolish Adoptions without Parental Consent on Change.org became the most popular one, as I used the updating feature regularly, until my account was closed – due to my exposure of the Whistleblower Kids via three petitions on their platform.
