3. After MEP Elections: a New PETI Committee
Just like MPs, not all MEPs get re-elected.
And those who were members of the Petitions Committee (PETI) may not get re-elected into the Committee again. So I was lucky to be invited back to the new Petitions Committee soon after the election and summer break, to inform them of our plight: this was on 11 November 2014.
The new Swedish MEP Cecilia Wikstrom was a superb chair for the meeting. I made special efforts to alert PETI members of my impending visit, and managed to see quite a few of them, or at least their assistants. As a result, they were far more prepared for the discussion and a long list of positive outcomes and actions was compiled.
Soon afterwards, the Bulgarian mum who had lost her daughter asked me for assistance and support on her presentation in January 2015.
