If nothing else, what we’ve learned during the Mueller investigation is how hard it is to prove state of mind. Even when you can show what someone says is false, can you prove that they knew it was false when they said it?

This is what Corsi is trying to take advantage now when he claims that he didn’t commit perjury as he didn’t remember all the incriminating emails he’d passed back and forth with Roger Stone. Of course, maybe he’d have been able to remember had he not scrubbed his computer clean of all emails prior to October 11, 2016-if this isn’t consciousness of guilt then what is?

What”s clear is that there are many examples of Corsi lying through the years-going back to the Birther stuff. Still, as clear in his interview on Ari Melber last night, his biggest defense might be that he’s a ‘conspiracy nut’ who doesn’t know the difference between reality and lies. He still claims today to believe Obama wasn’t born in the US.

In any case we now have emails between Stone and Corsi that are very interesting on a few levels. We already have the emails that show that in January, 2016 Corsi told Stone in an email that he had a pipeline inside Wikileaks. We also have the email Stone sent to Corsi in late July asking him to get the emails from Wikileaks and we have Corsi responding eight days later about both the subject of the coming leaks-Podesta-as well as the timing-October.

Then at the end of August-seven days after Stone’s infamous soon it will be Podesta’s time in the barrel-he asks Corsi to help him construct a counternarrative for the meaning of the infamous tweet.

But now we have emails that show Corsi and Stone saying something they knew to be a lie:

“Russian hackers weren’t the ones behind the theft of Democratic emails that upended the 2016 presidential race, conspiracy theorist Jerome Corsi told his InfoWars fans last year. Instead, Corsi said, Democratic National Committee staffer Seth Rich had stolen the emails and was murdered in revenge for the heist.”

“But Corsi was lying. In an email to Trump confidante Roger Stone in 2016, Corsi acknowledged that in fact hackers were behind the email theft, according to newly released messages.”

Despite that admission, both Corsi and Stone played key roles promoting the conspiracy theory about Rich. Stone became one of the first major figures in Trump’s orbit to suggest Rich was murdered over the emails, tweeting on August 10, 2016 that Rich had “ties to DNC heist.”

Despicable, especially as Rich’s parents begged them to stop.

In 2017, after Rich’s parents begged right-wing media personalities to stop pushing conspiracy theories about their son, Corsi put the blame for the email theft on Rich in a three-part InfoWars series.

In his InfoWars posts and a series of YouTube videos, Corsi portrayed Rich as a disaffected supporter of Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) who stole the emails to get revenge against the DNC and paid for it with his life. Corsi wrote that Rich had clearly been “implicated in breaches of email systems.” The young staffer was, according to Corsi, the “likely perpetrator.”

This is notable on a few levels: one it’s despicable that they continued after Rich’s family begged them to cut it out. That just confirms what we already know-that Trump and his co-conspirators are every bit as  Deplorable as Hillary Clinton rightly said they are. It also shows in real time that they have no trouble repeating something that they know to be a lie and a malicious lie at that.

Corsi still claims to doubt Obama was born in America. In a way this could be a helpful defense for him-his claim is that he didn’t lie to Mueller as he genuinely forgot sending the emails. This is logically not very plausible-and the fact that he destroyed the emails in early 2017-before the Mueller investigation was begun or we even had public confirmation of the FBI’s Russia counterintelligence investigation-but in a way his assertion to still not be convinced Obama was born in America might make some believe Corsi is just delusional and doesn’t know what the truth is.

But in these emails we see behind the curtain-on Seth Rich both he and Stone knew they were lying. It also confirms that they both knew Russia was behind the hacks. As noted in (Chapter A) there was a time when Stone admitted Russia was quite possibly behind the hacks; then in early August 2016 -very close to when he told Nunberg he ‘dined with Assange last night’ he abruptly changed his tune and insisted they weren’t. But these emails with Corsi proves he did know it was Russia.

UPDATE: There are so many questions the Mueller Report needs to answer but one it does is Seth Rich-Mueller confirms that this was a slander made up in whole cloth by Assange.

For that reason alone it’s hard to have sympathy for reports that he’s losing his mind or suffering greatly in custody.
