This was a great quote of Bill Maher back in 2018.

Trump, of course, is the America Hitler but the uncomfortable question for Democrats-and anyone concerned about the threat to our democracy-is wether Pelosi is the American Neville Chamberlain. As you can see through earlier chapters I had wanted to believe the best regarding the Speaker. Even during the aborted fight to deny her another term as Speaker I had noted the warning signs but tried to ignore them.

Now here we are nine months into Dem leadership of the House and we still have yet to see the Dems hit high gear-there’s reason to hope that’s starting now.

In July Pelosi expressed indignation at the question of wether she’s running out the clock on impeachment but it remains an open question. In the first  7 months of Dem leadership the main thing she’s given us is neologism after neologism about why letting him off the hook is the smartest, savviest thing to do-he’s just not worth it; he’s self impeaching; it’s too divisive for the country; I don’t want him impeached I want him in prison; it must be bipartisan.

I use the word savvy deliberately-as the Dem consultant class is about the only folks who actually care about the MSM’s ‘savvy’ takes-the best-ie worst-take of all shared by both the MSM both sides do it punditry and Pelosi is he wants to be impeached.

Her latest canard is the country is not for impeachment. After this latest neologism in the service of protecting ‘President Trump’- predictably Trump himself has thanked her for so protecting him-#ImpeachTrumpNowNANCY trended on Twitter.

In retrospect perhaps I should change the name of the holiday Nancy Pelosi Day to Rashida Tlaib day-Chapter A.

When she will have solidified her place in history as America’s Neville Chamberlain to Trump’s Adolph Hitler?

Many of us in the #Resistance and Dem base are  very disillusioned.

Yes-finally-the Dems appear to be holding an inquiry-though with very little fanfare thus far-and the MSM has mostly completely ignored them. This might be a feature not a bug in Pelosi’s mind but it takes away one of the major benefits of impeachment-taking the public microphone back-as Yoni Applebaum says.

And it’s still not clear what Pelosi’s endgame is-running out the clock or setting herself up as the reluctant impeacher?

The Pelosi defenders believe it’s the latter-and I hope they’re right but don’t have their confidence that they are-Chapter A.

After all recent reporting suggested Pelosi and Richard Neal have already run out the clock on getting Trump’s tax returns before the 2020 election-Chapter B-what use would they be afterwards?

While Pelosi is allowing Nadler to go forward it’s not clear if she’s open to this ending up in impeachment or this is just a sop to please the base. After all, based on the timeline some have suggested once we hit primary season it’s allegedly ‘too late.’ I’ve long since suspected this is Pelosi’s game-it will be ‘not yet’ until it’s ‘too late.’ If the Dems have to finish this before the primary voting they may well not have enough time-after all the earliest they can expect to prevail in the court case against all the ignored subpoenas is the end of October.

So until October 31-at the earliest-it will be ‘too early’ but after those 16 sessions it will be too late. Talk about a tight window. In other words it could take Pelosi only 16 days to run out the clock-then her and ‘President Trump’ are home free.
