Jesse Jackson is right: Hillary didn’t lose that election it was stolen from her.

“The Rev. Jesse Jackson said defeated 2016 Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton really “won the election” against Republican President Donald Trump last November — and that “it was stolen.”

“Jackson made his remarks Thursday during a labor breakfast at the annual conference of his organization, the Rainbow PUSH Coalition, in Chicago.”

Here are Jackson’s words in context before introducing Tom Perez, head of the Democratic National Committee:

“To have a head of our party who is sensitive to the plight of working people is the order of this day,” Jackson said. “Don’t forget — when you lose, you tend to amplify ‘woulda, coulda, shoulda.’ When you win, you cover up your sins. Don’t let anybody fool you, we worked last year, we won the election. It was stolen.”

A hesitant and mild applause followed — and Jackson continued:

From John F. Kennedy to Nixon to Carter to Ford to Clinton to Barack, if any of them had to face the impact of … Russian interference in such a bold way … the foolishness of the Electoral College and the interference of the FBI … none of them … Hillary won in spite of having a 3-million vote lead. So we’re not gonna let anybody break our spirit. We’re gonna keep fighting back. A big election is coming up this year, and we intend to win.

With that, Jackson introduced Perez.

Of course-the main outlets to cover Jackson’s accurate words were Right wing outfits like the Blaze quoting him no doubt to fire up the Deplorable base So the Blaze described the applause as ‘hesitant’. But nobody lives in a less fact based world than the Deplorables. What the Reverend said has the inconvenience of being 100% the truth.

That is the crystal clear inference of the last two years-despite how hard the media works not to draw this very obvious conclusion. They instead prefer to focus on trivial criticisms like ‘Yes but when is she going to apologize for not going to Michigan’ or ‘She’s just a bad candidate’-simply mimicking the words taught to them by the vast Right wing conspiracy’s Big Lie machine, amplified in 2016 by Russian bots.

The idea that maybe Trump didn’t win that election legitimately is slowly beginning to dawn on some folks but the logical inverse no one in the MSM will countenance: if Trump didn’t ‘win’ the election legitimately-wether or not the Trump campaign colluded with the Russian interference or not-logically then Clinton didn’t ‘lose’ it legitimately either which makes this obsession with going to Michigan the last week absurd. The point is not that the Clinton campaign made no mistakes-name me the campaign that hasn’t. But if Team A loses the basketball game at the buzzer on a bad call-a la the Comey letter-and then we subsequently learn that the refs were paid off, the big takeaway is not that A failed to make some substitutions, missed a few free throws and failed to rest its Allstar Center-which is true of any game-but that the game was rigged.

Regarding Hillary Clinton the media has chosen to focus on substitutions and a few missed free throws rather than the fact that: the refs were paid off.

Many of us agree with Reverend Jackson:

I argued in (Chapter A) that this is not a time for New Testament justice. Perhaps a reverend like the Reverend Jackson himself would agree that now is the time for Old Testament Justice. You know-pestilence, locusts, boils, darkness, and hailstorms. Perhaps time for what Brett Kavanaugh called ‘vengeance on behalf of the Clintons.’

What is unavoidable is the fact that all those who unfairly attacked and slandered Hillary Clinton are now in a terrible way, and have indeed experienced the political equivalence of 24 hour darkness, hailstorms, and locusts.

Think about it-Michael Cohen, Paul Manafort, Michael Flynn, Roger Stone, Jerome Corsi, Trump himself and his family. All those chanting lock her up are going to prison or may be going soon. Sure you can gloat about Hillary Clinton’s ‘defeat’ but what’s amazing is that to ‘beat’ this allegedly bad candidate Trump and his GOP co-conspirators had to make a deal with the literal devil-Vladimir Putin-and while with all they threw at her they were only able to secure a rigged win in the electoral college-while still losing the popular vote by 3 million-the political world itself has simply spun off its axis ever since.

Indeed, it makes you feel like it’s not just Old Testament Justice we’re seeing her but the work of Karma herself-she’s a bitch-and the Furies. The Furies, who the Greeks feared so much, these vengeful and vindictive harpies who demanded severe punishment for anyone who sinned against Nature and Mother Right.

These Furies are outraged and they will not rest until everyone who viciously slandered and attacked America’s first female major party nominee is taken down in a most ignominious and horrendous way.

As I argued in Chapter A this time we need this older darker kind of Justice-for the Furies there really is no difference between ‘Justice’ and’Revenge’-indeed, it’s forgotten our conceptions of ‘justice’ are really just a sublimated version of revenge. The public is outraged. They were outraged after Watergate, they wanted Nixon to go to prison but Ford pardoned him for transparently self, interested partisan reasons-Ford claimed it was for the good of the country, in truth it was for the good of the Republican party-the thing to understand about the not so Grand Ole Party is there is nothing they do that isn’t about partisan interest.

The public was also outraged in 2009 but Obama and the Dems unfortunately let the Bush era criminals off the hook.

Bill Clinton wanted to ‘look forwards not backwards’ in 1993 and so ended the investigations into Irangate regarding  Reagan-Bush. The GOP repaid him by spending the rest of the 1990s investigating a faux scandal that actually happened further in the past than Irangate-Whitewater.

This time the Democrats must heed the wishes of the public and not try in any way to dilute or water down what is needed: Justice for Hillary Clinton and Justice for our American electoral system faith in which has now been legitimately shaken.

Here is what Old Testament Justice sounds like:

“However, if you do not obey the Lord your God and do not carefully follow all his commands and decrees I am giving you today, all these curses will come on you and overtake you:

16 You will be cursed in the city and cursed in the country.

17 Your basket and your kneading trough will be cursed.

18 The fruit of your womb will be cursed, and the crops of your land, and the calves of your herds and the lambs of your flocks.

19 You will be cursed when you come in and cursed when you go out.

20 The Lord will send on you curses, confusion and rebuke in everything you put your hand to, until you are destroyed and come to sudden ruin because of the evil you have done in forsaking him.[a] 21 The Lord will plague you with diseases until he has destroyed you from the land you are entering to possess. 22 The Lord will strike you with wasting disease, with fever and inflammation, with scorching heat and drought, with blight and mildew, which will plague you until you perish. 23 The sky over your head will be bronze, the ground beneath you iron. 24 The Lord will turn the rain of your country into dust and powder; it will come down from the skies until you are destroyed.”

Doesn’t this in many ways accurately describe the experience of Trump, his family, and his GOP co-conspirators post stealing the election from Hillary Clinton?

I’ve heard it said that Karma is not a bitch, Karma is only justice. But for the Furies-this is a distinction without a meaningful difference.

But for those who have stolen our American elections, and stolen our American narrative that  doesn’t sound too harsh to me.

Because this has been going on for 50 years. Hithero, the Democrats have been willing to forgive and forget, they have been good Christians-they’ve turned the other cheek. Even Al Gore himself who had the 2000 election stolen from him in the end dismissed the legitimate outrage of the Congressional Black Caucus.

“In an ironic final chapter to the most disputed presidential election in modern history, Vice President Al Gore presided over his own defeat Saturday, as a joint session of Congress formally declared George W. Bush the next president of the United States.”

“May God bless our new president and new vice president, and may God bless the United States of America,” Gore said at the end of a two-hour proceeding at the Capitol that was held to certify the state-by-state votes of the electoral college.

“Compared to the agonizing 36 days of doubt and confusion that followed the Nov. 7 election, Saturday’s proceeding was almost anticlimactic, its final outcome never in doubt.”

“More than a dozen Democratic lawmakers, most of them members of the Congressional Black Caucus, formally objected to the certification of Florida’s electoral votes and walked out on the proceedings because of what Rep. Sheila Jackson-Lee (D-Texas) described as “the millions of Americans who have been disenfranchised by Florida’s inaccurate vote count.”

“But because the objectors failed to recruit a single senator to join their cause, under congressional rules they were unable to open debate on the Florida controversy.”

“So it was left to Gore, who presided over the event in his duties as president of the Senate, to overrule their objections one by one, ensuring that Florida’s 25 electoral votes would be certified for Bush.

“Is the point of order signed by a senator?” Gore asked each of the Democrats in succession as they brought their objections.

“I don’t care that it is not signed by a senator,” answered Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Los Angeles), who was among those who walked out.

Gore quickly overruled her. “You will be advised that the rules do care,” he said.

A few minutes later, an exasperated Rep. Jesse L. Jackson Jr. (D-Ill.) told Gore, “It’s a sad day in America when we can’t find a senator to sign these objections.”

The rules do care. But the GOP doesn’t care about the rules and they didn’t in 2000-they used their control of Florida’s state government along with their majority on the GOP Supreme Court to plow George W. Bush through a la Mitch McConnell.

When you see how ruthlessly singleminded Congressman Waters is today about impeaching Trump for all his High Crimes and Misdemeanors starting with the illegitimate way he ‘won’ his Office, you have to appreciate how much frustration and anger there is-this isn’t just about 2016 but 2000, 1968, 1972, 1980, and 1988-for 50 years the GOP has been rigging elections by any means necessary and it’s just enough. If we aren’t going to finally demand that the GOP co-conspirators get their comeuppance then we never will.

Hopefully by now it’s becoming clear: the only way to ‘heal America’ is to stop letting the GOP obstructers and traitors off the hook. Just recently the media had more faux outrage over Clinton when she pointed out the truth: the GOP understands only strength. The media took seriously Mitch McConnell’s faux outrage over her saying you can’t get anywhere being nice to the GOP. The notion that you can ‘forgive and forget’ Watergate, or Bush-Gore or the Bush-Cheney criminals this is what has fomented the cynicism.

The American people want and deserve accountable. If Trump is found guilty of criminal conspiracy to rig an election-and already has been in the hush money indictment against Cohen-he should be held fully accountable which certainly means impeachment-regardless of what the Mitch McConnell Senate wants to do about it.

But for more on this see Chapter A.

UPDATE:  Jim Clyburn unprompted evoked the possibility of impeachment on Joy Reid yesterday.
