Melber seems to think that something about the redacted Mueller Report-or more precisely about Barr’s highly misleading four page memo on March 24, 2019 exonerates Carter Page-that was certainly the tone of his interview a few days after Barr’s highly misleading four page memo.
Again it’s hard to believe that a lawyer of Melber’s apparent caliber needs it explained to him that a declination decision is not necessarily a statement of total innocence-Mueller himself spells out that because something wasn’t established doesn’t necessarily mean there is not significant evidence of it:
- Mueller ultimately concluded that “Page’s activities in Russia — as described in his emails with the Campaign — were not fully explained”
- According to Konstantin Kilimnik, on December 8, 2016 “Carter Page is in Moscow today, sending messages he is authorized to talk to Russia on behalf of DT on a range of issues of mutual interest, including Ukraine”
- The declinations discussion appears to say Page could have been charged as a foreign agent, but was not
